For Parents and Teachers

Whether you’re a parent looking for science activities for home, or a teacher looking for additional classroom resources, FOSSweb California has something for you.

From the Homepage, you can access information about the program and website, such as news and updates, implementation and planning, scope and sequence, and general information about the program.

If you’re looking for something specific, the homepage also has resources such as technical support, ordering and contact information, teacher guide previews, and a matrix of module resources for science resource specialists.

Along the left side of the home page, you’ll see grades K-5 listed. If you follow one of these links to a specific grade, you’ll see the three modules taught at that grade level.

Along the left side of the page are the resources for each module. First are the web-based activities that allow students to further explore some of the concepts taught in a given module, whether in the classroom or at home.

Next are the Photo Gallery, Books, and Websites. These are resources for students, meant to expand some of the concepts taught in each module.

At the bottom left of the page is the For Parents and Teachers section. This section includes a Module Summary (including a downloadable summary PDF), Vocabulary (including downloadable PDFs for glossary terms and definitions, in English and Spanish, as well as terms and definitions listed on the site), the Home/School Connection (includes a downloadable PDF of activities for students to do at home, in English and Spanish), and Teacher Resources.

The Teacher Resources section includes a Resource Database of books, videos, and websites; Module Teaching Notes, which provides up to date notes on the experiences of FOSS users; Important Module Updates, which lists any important updates for each module; Duplication Masters, as downloadable PDFs, for all the science notebook, teacher, and assessment masters; Material Safety Data Sheets for all the items which require them; Teacher Prep Videos; Plant and Animal care for courses with living organisms; and Audio Resource Book, an audio recording of the FOSS CA student science resources book.
